    video games

So, what is your favorite game? Or if you don't have one, what do you like to play, or want to play?

Halo's my favorite. Ever since my brother showed it to me i've been hooked. I've played and beaten the games, and read the books. I even have the graphic novel, though not the Uprising comics, I can't find them :{. I got my Xbox360 for Halo3. I'd like to play Call of Duty 4, but can't get my hands on it yet.

    Re: video games

My favorite game would have to be Final Fantasy VIII (8) at least in terms of storyline (which is the most important thing about a game for me, which is why I tend to not like most first-person shooters)

In terms of the amount of time I spend playing a game, it's FFXI by far.

On top of that, I also played almost every other numbered Final Fantasy (not going to buy a DS just for that), and many of the Command and Conquer games, as well as some of the old mario games a long time ago.

    Re: video games

Halo was pretty good, and I haven't gotten my hands on Halo 3 yet, but I actually disliked Halo 2. It's pretty cool to see that it has a book series, but I doubt I'll ever read it, I'm too backed up on books I should read as it is.

Anyway, I've always been partial to the SNES games.  The Illusion of Gaia, Chrono Trigger, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, both of the FF games and countless others.  Since then, the storylines of games have been taking hits for the sake of graphics.  It's kind of sad, but I guess I have to admit that games "look" better these days than they ever have before.

Aside from the longer adventure games and RPGs, I love strategy games.  Command and Conquer has always been fun, and Starcraft and Warcraft are both really fun too ^^  But overall Total Annihilation was probably the best, that and the Civ games... o.o()  So hard to pick just one!  I still haven't gotten my hands on Supreme Commander yet, but I've seen it and it is an amazing game.

Anyway, that's pretty much just grazing the surface.. I could talk about video games for hours but I figure I should avoid that... c.c

One of my favorite vidoe games has to be Legend of Dragoon.  This is one of my first playstation games.  I would then have to choose Final Fantasy X and X-2.

    Re: video games

I like some of the later Final Fantasy games. I just got into them recently, so I've never had a chance to play the older ones. So X and XII so far for me.

Aside from that, I haven't really been playing much recently.

    Re: video games

Wow, never played "classic" Final Fantasy games? I say ether FF7 or FF9 are the best! Cool [H]

LOL, at the moment I haven't been playing ANY games. At least, not on my gamecube. I really wanted to buy a Playstation III for Christmas, but my dad said no.  Because Assassin's Creed was coming out for Xbox 360/PSIII, and I wanted to buy it, so I'm somewhat disappointed. Sad [:(]

But I' ve been Playing Warcraft III, Reign of Chaos and The Sims Complete Collection on PC. Big Smile [:D]

My favorite game would have to be Spyro The Dragon for Playstation. I remember when that game was brand new and I played it non-stop for hours on end. I also love Resident Evil 4 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask were both fantastic. Majora's Mask is my favorite. I've been looking for it every time I run into one of the game stores, but so far I haven't found it.

I want Sims for the PC now. I have it for PS2, but for some reason I don't seem to play it on there. I have a subsrciption to WoW, but I haven't played it in several months now. LOL Maybe I get too bored too quickly! I would LOVE to get a Wii, but it will probably be next year before they come down in price enough. I'd also like to get an XBox360. We'll see about that.

    Re: video games

I do believe that they have a game out for Gamecube that has The Legend of Zelda 1, 2, Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask on it. They offer it at Amazon.com:

Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition Nintendo Gamecube by Nintendo (GameCube).

I also played the new Sims (The Sims Two) for PS2 on my Gamecube (for they also offer it on that game console). But I preffer the original Sims over The Sims Two. But V' if you DO get an XBox360, make sure to check out Assassin's Creed and see if you would like it, I heard it's suppose to be pretty good. Big Smile [:D]

My favorite game, even though its a bit out of date, its still my favorite. Drakan: The Ancients Gates for the PS2.

Its my favorite, because it has everything I like in a fantasy game. Cool looking swords, a dragon to fly around on and breath fire with, a badass chick wielding your cool looking swords ( That looks kinda like Rhapsody ) and a good enthralling story about the on going struggle between good and evil. Plus for an old PS2 game, the graphics are impressive. Plus it has some fun battles, and its just over all a great game. Its hard to track down, but if you can get your paws on it, you wont ever want to get rid of it.

I have that one. Cool stuff. Unfortunately, I'm so bad at that game, I got to the second area and couldn't go on... Sad huh? I'll try again some day...

I don't suppose that Final Fantasy has any games for the PS2 or Xbox do they? I've always wanted to try those games out, but never had a nintendo...

By the way, if anyone has any questions about Halo, just ask. As I've probably already said somewhere, I'm absolutely obsessed...

    Re: video games

Final Fantasies, at least the numbered ones have been with the playstation since the 7th. 7, 8, 9 are for ps1 (7 and 8 is also available for pc), and 10, 10-2, and 12 are on ps2 only.

FF 11 is an mmo available on ps2, pc, and xbox360, and from my point of view in various ways superior to WoW (storyline mainly for me, since I'm not a big Warcraft fan) but really eats up your time, even moreso than WoW.

FF 13 should be coming out in a year and a bit exclusively for the PS3, and will reportedly "Max out the ps3".

Also, somewhat remade versions of at least FF1 and 2 are available for ps1.

    Re: video games

The entire Final Fantasy line, numbers one through forty-seven or whatever, are all excellent.

I do have to say though since I'm a Nintendohead that I've become a Mario addict. Pretty much anything concerning him and his brethren gets my thumbs up approval.
Although I have yet to purchase/play the Wii or NDS, I'm sure the Mario titles available on either of those systems are as good if not better than ever...and I must update soon cause as far as new titles go my Gamecube and Gameboy Advance have both been committed to the ash heap of history.

    Re: video games

    Final Fantasy! <33

But since that one has been covered I'll move on...

Jak and Daxter! It's not my usual genre, but for some reason Jak and Daxter, Jak 2, Jak 3, Jak X and the PSP version Daxter have all appealed to me greatly. I'm not quite sure why, but they very rarely disappoint. ...In fact I think the only disappointment was the ending to the third installment if you're as into a certain fandom as I am.

Drakengard! It's a bit of an unconventional hack 'n slash/RPG if you read into the storyline, but I really like that about it. It sort of loses the original appeal in Drakengard 2, but then that game really gains an appeal of its own.

Legend of the Dragoon! Ysk mentioned this one a while ago. I love the characters in this one as well as the way the story unravels. The female lead sort of bugged me, which is actually very rare; I usually like the female leads. The battle system is pretty much just like any RPG, but the addition system kept them from getting boring.

Diagaea: Hour of Darkness! This is such a WONDERFUL strategy game! Highly recommended, and I won't say more about it lest I ruin the AWESOME experience.

    Re: video games

The 3D Legend of Zelda games are my favourites, from Ocarina of Time to Twilight Princess, but I also love Skies of Arcadia and Lost Kingdoms.
I'm only just getting into Final Fantasy, am currently working my way through FF7 and loving it! Unfortunately, I don't have a playstation of my own, I'm currently using my housemate's and I am only living with him until June :(. Thankfully PS2s are fairly cheap at the moment, or perhaps I will save up for a PS3, with any luck I will be able to play FF7 all the way through to FF13 when it comes out!
I'm not a huge fan of shooters, although Halo seems pretty cool, unfortunately I can't get the hang of the dual stick controls. I love my N64 classics Goldeneye though :P.

    Re: video games

Goldeneye was pretty cool, I always played it when I was little on the classic N64. Big Smile [:D]

Lately I've been playing Shadow of the Colossus and FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus. Shadow of the Colossus is an astounding game with the most beautiful graphics I've ever seen on any game council yet, (except Resident Evil 4 and Assassin's Creed is a very close call) and the gameplay is... fantastic! SOTC has got to be one of the greatiest games I've ever played, but I'm still itching to play Assassin's Creed. But alas! I only have a Gamecube, A couple of Gameboys, an old PS1 and a new PS2. Sad [:(]

I'm also fixing to buy a game soon called Gallop Racer 2001, a horse racing game which I played at my friend's house and fell in love with it. I know, it may sound corny to some of you. Stick out tongue [:P] But I'm a huge horse racing addict, (not the betting part) just watching the horses pound down the track makes me excited! And also because I love horses in general.

I've also been wanting to play FFVII, but the disc is a little old and so scratched up I can't even start a new game on it. I'm also watching my little brother play Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, as well as FFX on the PS2. I also want to re-buy the Spyro the Dragon trilogy so I can replay them in order to re-live the experience. I couldn't do that in the first place though because Spyro; Ripto's Rage doesn't let you start a new game, just like FFVII.

I could use a disc cleaner...

I should think you can get a second hand copy of FFVII cheaply at charity/second hand shops, I bought a copy of FFVIII for £4 (about $8 I think) at a second hand shop, so it wouldn't be too much to buy a copy that works. :)

    Re: video games

Good point Noonaa. I will seek out one of these sacred, "second hand shops," to acquire these gemstones. Big Smile [:D]

Anyway, I've been doing a little adventuring in Shadow of the Colossus, and almost beaten Dirge of Cerberus. I'm still amazed how large SOTC is (the landscape you are capable of traveling in). It rivals Morrowind. And the little pockets of paradises and secluded "vacation spots," I've discovered are really fun! I guess you could say I'm a little bit obsessed with this game. But it just about has everything from duny deserts, strands of beach, valleys, plains, forest, oceans, lakes, ponds, rivers, oasis, cliffs, grasslands, caves, mountains, rubble ruins of ancient human-built structures... you ask for it, you find it. Well, except artic climates. The only thing I would had liked it to have is the day-and-night (like in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask or Twilight Princess). All the time it is day... gets a little boring after a while.

Of course, the game isn't about galloping around on your horse and adventuring, it's just about defeating those titanic, 16 Colossus to save your girlfriend. Wink [;)] But like I said, I'm a bit obsessed with this game, and had already beaten it and playing it more than I should. It's fun to further explore a game and unravel every little detail you could. Luckily I have the time to do this.

Another game with MASSIVE exploration abilities is Morrowind: The Elders Scroll for the PC and XBox. But while in Morrowind, it got tiring because you could sail to place to place, but than you would have to pay. And in order to sail there in the first place, you would first have to go to the port. And that sometimes took walking/running on foot for hours on end and you could meet up with nasty thieves and beggars who had very high HP. Or you could use a special ability to fly. After a while I stopped trying to play the game because it was just too much to handle. Sure it was nice game, and I enjoyed getting my female, high-elf, assassin through parts of the game and making her stronger, aquiring better weapons, ect... But it was too much to handle after a while. Confused [*-)]

I have to say that Shadow of the Colossus is one of the best games I've played yet. Besides Ocarine of Time and Resident Evil 4.

Everything by Nippon Ichi and Atlus is great.  Disgaea 2 came out a while ago (which I found to be a lot of fun) and there are other great games too.  Makai Kingdom, Phantom Brave, La Pucelle, Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (I have the soundtrack to this game on my Xbox 360) ^^  Then there's the demon/devil series which is really cool too.  Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is great, Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, and then I think there are more, but I haven't played them yet...  Anyway, if you're a strategy fan, or an rpg fan, you'll love these games.

I got some new (old) games today, Summoner, Beyond Good and Evil and Rayman 2. Never played BGAE before, does anyone know if it is any good? I remember there being good reviews at the time.
