    Re: Horde Brags

That's funny, we did her last night too. It's the 2nd guild group and some of them are have no clue about Kara. We did Huntsman > Moroes > Maiden > Opera (Oz) > Nightbane. Night bane was a struggle because we were 3 mages and the others died fast and had no idea about containing aggro or mana. They started off with molten armor, which I had to tell them would do them no favours for a 10+ minute fight.

The other boss fights all went quite smoothly though, esp, Oz which was a piece of cake.

    Re: Horde Brags

This is our Horde raid group and not many of them have any experience raiding at all. It was a big deal downing Maiden because she had given us SO much trouble in the past.

    Re: Horde Brags

Last night's raid was pretty awesome.  We were going in to do the Opera and Curator, I figured we'd get stuck on Curator as he's a gear check and all.  Opera went well, we got the Big Bad Wolf and we one shot him.

Suddenly we were standing in Curator's room with him walking toward us.  We started the fight, things seemed to be going well. I'm usually the hateful bolt soaker but this time I was on flare duty and we struggled getting them down on the first wave.  I was only able to get off one frostbolt at Curator during the first evocation.

But then everyone seemed to figure out the pattern and we started clearing the flares faster.  On the second evocation we got him down to the point where he enrages. Then everyone hit him hard and we downed him.

I got my T4 gloves on the first kill of Curator for our group. w00t!

We had a lot of time left and headed up to the Shade of Aran and after 3 attempts we downed him too (it looks like more on the stats due to a false start and our hunter feigned death in the room instead of dieing and after the reset Aran found her somehow. I don't know if her feign death expired or if he just wandered too close to her but it recorded it as another attempt).

We realized that we still had 30 minutes left on our time, so we cleared up to Chess and did that too.

I think thereason we did so well is that a few really well geared folks from one of the more serious raid guilds joined us to help us out and also to have a good time.  Woot!

    Here's our debrief and pictures.

Here's the planning thread for the next run if you can make it Krinsel

    Re: Horde Brags

I brought Phlox over to Draenor yesterday (now Phlóx) and spent a few hours reminding myself how to play an enhancement shammy. I used my honor points for 2 awesome new season 2 axes and made another part of the epic ebon dragonscale set. I'm debating taking her to Kara tonigh, or maybe continuing with Morrah... we'll see. It's nice to have the human blender back in action. Big Smile [:D]

    Re: Horde Brags

So we had a crack at Mount Hyjal last night, purely just to see, and were quite happy to get the first boss down to 49%, considering most people were not so well geared I reckon we could really do this in a month or so.

Phlóx in the meanwhile is ready for Karazahn, her gear isn't fantastic, but she should do ok on lower. We'll see how much aggro she causes tonight and if she can manage to do more than tickle the mobs and bosses. It'll be strange doing Kara on a melee class.

Oh and on our other newbie Kara group we took down Prince on Monday - which was super. The only bad part was a whinging mage who threw a complete tantrum because he didn't get the roll on the T4 head. Some people expect to have full T4/T5 standard gear after 15 days played... Huh? [:^)]

    Re: Horde Brags

Had another good Kara run. Lant, Kong, Tez and I made up the usual 4 and we had some new guildies joining for the rest. We did Huntsman > Moroes > Maiden > Opera (R&J again) > Nightbane > Curator. There was only 1 wipe in all - which is pretty darn good.

It was a bit strange playing melee, esp on Nightbane, but I got the hang of it and it went fine. I was 3rd on the dps meter which was also a nice surprise and unlike most enhancement shammies, I didn't over aggro, despite having treated myself to Mongoose on both my weapons... Angel [A]

On Sunday we do 'The Eye' Surprise [:O]

Well, when we went with Unwise last year, we got past the trash and failed on the first boss. I'm not expecting amazing things - but it should be fun. Big Smile [:D]

    Re: Horde Brags

Lol, yeah - I really don't. I've been raiding on and off for over 2 years now and I'm in touch with that, the only real thing that annoys me in the 25+ man raids is the way it takes everyone forever to regroup after a wipe...  In the end I didn't go on that raid though, found that an evening in front of the TV with the kitties held more appeal for me. Big Smile [:D]

Well, I got back from holiday on Sunday and was back in ZA last night; we were trying for the timed run and did well on the first 2 bosses but bit the bullet on the 3rd. No bear mounts for us anytime soon. Well... in WotLK maybe. Wink [;)]

And I guess that's the big WoW news of the week - there's finally a release date. This leaves most people wondering whether it's worth progressing gear via raids when by level 75 it'll be useless. Our guild is still going to soldier on with Mount Hyjal though (first boss down now) and I am enjoying the Kara runs with my shammy. And in the meanwhile, I decided to do what I always do when WoW options are tight... I made an alt. Embarrassed [:$] I have a wee level 25 feral druid working her way up the levels already.

    Re: Horde Brags

We had a nice little Kara run yesterday, our usual main-tank took a break for the night so Lantaur (my bf) ended up taking his place. It can be a bit hard for feral druids to get aggro on large groups, and there were a few deaths - but we did well on clearing Huntsman > Moroes > Maiden > Big Bad Wolf > Curator > Chess > Prince.

Considering most hadn't played together before it was a success, esp for my Shammy who scored the T4 headpiece from Prince. Quite a piece of luck as I had just got 50 badges for the reward one.... instead I have 59 badges to go towards the SSO ones. Once I have those I'll be fully epic. Big Smile [:D] Not too shabby considering my shammy was running around in pvp blues less than a month ago.

The only downside to the raid was that we had two idiots in the group (grown men) who were spamming say and raid chat with how gay they each thought the other was. Tongue Tied [:S] It's a sad thing when you have to put raid members on ignore. I think the GM has given them a warning. I sure hope so, anyway.

    Re: Horde Brags

That is pretty sad. I hope the GM made it clear that wasn't appropriate.

Anyway our little horde raid group is growing by leaps and bounds.  We have 3 full time healers now and one who fills in part time.  I'm having to rotate the DPS in and out now cause we have too many.  And we have three good tanks.  We're clearing Kara over two nights now pretty easily.  Well, Prince can still be a pain if the infernals fall in the wrong places.

We're planning to stop raiding on 10/13-ish. We figure that we'll be busy with Hallow's End and when the new patch comes out, the Scourge Invasion. Soon after that the expansion will hit and we'll all be leveling up again.

I've been listening to Big Red Kitty's podcast the last couple of weeks and that's made me interested in Hunters again. I've been playing Sylvaen a little because of it.  She picked up a nice Gorilla tank pet the other day in STV. w00t! a Gorilladin!

    Re: Horde Brags

Did you do the BRD Brewfest boss? That was a fun way to gather some nifty trinkets and Junipa managed to get the ram. Big Smile [:D] I did a quick ogre rep grind for the Nagrand Talbuk for Phlox who, despite being a troll, looks a lot better on it than she does on a raptor. I figure that as we are losing our flying mounts for most of the levelling in WotLK I may as well get some mounts that suit my gals as I'll be looking at them a long time.

Sounds like your Kara group is working well together. How are you getting on with Netherspite? That's my least favourite boss in there.

    Re: Horde Brags

Mine too. But we two shotted it the first time we saw him. And have been taking him down weekly since then.  So no problems.  Now we're rotating some alts through so it's getting a little more difficult as they aren't as well geared as our mains. I still can't believe that we one shot Prince the first time the group went against him.  I'm still amazed by that.

    Re: Horde Brags

Well, Prince is just tank and spank and if you get lucky with the infernals; he's easy. Also if you don't have too much melee it helps. If we're doing a quick badge run we always do Prince.

I got my new legs; leggings of the persuit! Phlóx is now fully epic apart from hourglass of the unraveller, but that's one of the best trinkets in the game for her, so she's all done. I would like to upgrade her gloves though... but I'm not too fussed. The problem is that she's really an aggro magnet these days. Sad [:(] Shammies really don't have any aggro reducing skills, unless you count ankh. Stick out tongue [:P]

Oh ... Echoes of Doom incoming soon, I've heard we get it on the 15th October. Big Smile [:D] So much to take in. And three mains to get it working with. Surprise [:O]

    Re: Horde Brags

10/14 here. Looking forward to doing some Scourge Invasion again.  We haven't seen that since 1.11 when Naxxramas was first introduced.

On a related note: Build 9014 is on the beta realms now, and it's MUCH smoother than the previous builds.  Lag issues seem to have been fixed, or at least minimized.

    Re: Horde Brags

The Scourge Invasion was going on when I first started WoW, I remember those annoying skellies outside Darnassus. Big Smile [:D]

I've tuned out of WoW for the last couple of days; everyone's just waiting for the patch now; you can't even get people to do Heroics and that's in a guild of 125 accounts. Surprise [:O] So I went back to Poser and started packaging up some freebie textures I've created.
