Yah, I did a quick search and it was WoW Gal who used that word.  So you’re not alone in using it madhatter, so it looks like I won’t have to revoke your “cool like Lord Stephen” license after all. Wink [;)]

I actually liked Enterprise (even the theme song grew on me after a while)...

Actually, IMO Enterprise had the best intro of any TV series I have ever seen.  I loved that song “It’s been a long road…,”  I’ve used it for many a slide show and amv.  Plus the footage they used of the Pioneers of Voyaging beginning with the Polynesian sailboat and then going all the way to the Mercury and Apollo missions was just super awesome.

A while back the History Channel aired this two-hour documentary called Beyond the Final Frontier (I think it was) and it was a Star Trek retrospective as well as a documentary about the Christie’s auction of all the old Star Trek props that Warner Brothers were getting rid of.

Man, that thing was so unbelievably awesome, I give it five out of five stars.  If it ever airs again you have to watch it.  Plus they kept playing the intro theme from Voyager as the background music (I love that theme) and the Christie’s auction part of the show was just too cool.  I got goose bumps whenever someone in the room actually outbid the online people.  The TNG Enterprise model went for half a mil. *yikes*

I remember Quantum Leap!!!  That show was awesome!!!  Do you remember the names of the two main characters?  Why it was none other than Sam and Al.  Hahaha!!!

And the best episode was that two parter when Sam first leapt back to Vietnam and got to meet his older brother (who died there), and then the very next episode in which he leapt back home into his teenage self.  Those two episodes was time travel fiction at its best. Smile [:)]

That assassination of JFK episode was horrible though. Smile [:)]

I'm surprised it wasn't me. I concur a lot. Probably because of my military background.

    I concur.

In fact during the part where they are showing the boat sailing off and the nautical chart appears, superimposed over the scene and it starts to rotate, synchronized with the floating horizon, I can't help but smile. It's really cool. (Edit: I've got it backwards. The chart is first, then the water horizon and boat. I just watched an episode to confirm it).

I didn't like it when they embellished the theme song in season 3 or 4.  The original version was much better.

    Re: Star Trek (2008)

Okay, so it looks like the cast for the new Star Trek is set:

Kirk (Chris Pine, Princess Diaries 2)
Young Spock (Zachary Quinto, Sylar on Heroes)
    Spock (Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek)
    Uhura (Zoe Saldana, Guess Who)
McCoy (Karl Urban , Eomer in LoTR)
Chekov (Anton Yelchin , Alpha Dog)
Sulu (John Cho, Harold in Harold & Kumar go to Whitecastle)
Scotty (Simon Pegg, Shaun in Shaun of the Dead)

Well, it was supposed to be that Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner had approval over who were to be cast as their younger counterparts, and would also make cameo’s reprising the older versions of themselves.

However, Chris Pine did not get Shatner’s approval and he withdrew his name from the project.  Well, I am going to have to somewhat agree with him; I remember Chris Pine from Princess Diaries 2 and I cannot imagine him as Kirk.

Sylar as Spock is kind of growing on me; he can look very nerdy when he wants to.

And I really cannot believe the dude from Shaun of the Dead and Harold from Harold and Kumar are in this project.  LOL.  IMO this does not bold well for the film. (Is that the correct spelling for bold in this situation?)

But at least Karl Urban is in this movie; he’s my favorite actor from LOTR.

But the thing that gets me the most nervous about this movie is that J.J. Abrams is running the show.  I wasn't a big fan of the TV show Alias or Mission Impossible 3; IMO he has a very flashy and slick directing style (sort of like Michael Bay lite).  And anyway, everyone knows that odd numbered Star Trek movies bite, and this would be number 11 I believe, so who knows what will happen.

    Re: Star Trek (2008)

Simon Pegg - yay! How cool that he'll be in it. I got to meet the locations manager for Hott Fuzz because they wanted to film a scene at my place of work. They used another place sadly, they said our skyline had more funk though. Big Smile [:D]

Looks like an interesting cast though.

    Re: Star Trek (2008)

Now seeing the cast, many that I know of, I guess I'll have to see it. William Shatner shouldn't have withdrew from the project, but it makes sense. He did make his 'final' farewell in Generations. You're right...a lot of the odd number movies blow...the first one was just weird, three wasn't good as its bookends, five was plain bizarre, and...oh, wait, I liked Generations. And Insurrection was good, too, but not as good as First Contact. And I think the word you're thinking of, SIA, is bode. Maybe J.J. Abrams will surprise us. Hopefully it doesn't have a LOST-like quality, where no questions are answered and things become stranger and stranger.

    Re: Star Trek (2008)

This is probably old news by now but I only found out yesterday that Chris Hemsworth (Kim from Home and Away) will be playing George Kirk in the movie. With his brooding good looks and dark moods, he has been likened to  Heath Ledger a couple of times in last few  years.  An interesting one to look out for...

Pushed back to May 8th 2009, they've updated the website with new poster art. Zack looks just like Spock.

    Re: Star Trek (2009)

The official Star Trek (2009) Trailer 2 just came out at the Apple Trailers site and it actually shows Star Trek stuff this time (unlike that lame 1st teaser trailer).  LOL.

Hmmm...  I don't know.  *shakes head*  I just don't know.  LOL.  Sylar as Spock looks pretty darn cool though.
