    Re: Let's try this again!!

I have lost 17 pounds so far.  I am proud of myself because since I got my ellipitcal at the end of March, I have pretty much been traveling every week for work.  And it is very hard to eat well when you are on the road all day because handheld food is not traditionally healthy.  But I am watching what I am eating and working out whenever I can.  So I am happy with 17 pounds right before my Disney vacation.

Wow, nice going seek_me. Smile [:)] Snack food is such a danger area and when you're eating on the hoof it's so hard to find a healthy and edible alternative.

I lost 4lbs in the last couple of weeks from nothing other than some sporadic working out on my wii fit. It's good fun and the game quality of it doesn't feel like a chore. I've started trying to use it in the morning now as I tend to have more energy then, it can be hard to exercise when I come home after work and just feel like flopping on the sofa. Interestingly I have been much more clear headed at work as a result and my sleep patterns are improving.

Anyway, this week I'm making an effort to be more consistant with the workouts ( a minimum of 5 x 30 minute wii aerobic routines through the week,) and watching what I eat a bit more carefully. Let's see if I can stick to it. Wink [;)]

I am back home and weighed in - I regained 15lbs or so due to my concussion, no moving+feeling sorry for myself did me no good. Luckily most of those went away again during my trip! Yes [Y]
I also transferred some of my eating habits to my host, to his surprise (and, I think, happiness) - discovered when he had to make several new notches in his belt. Smile [:)] Now I have the summer to get back in shape. With my new running shoes I think it will be easier! Big Smile [:D]

    Congrats Winebrat!

Well I am on my long awaited Disney vacation.  I told myself that it was okay to eat down here because the average person walks 9-10 miles a day.  Well about 2 weeks ago I fell while working in St Louis and my first day here I was shaving my legs in the shower and twisted my already sore back.  Couldn't walk most of the week.  So I was in a scooter while everyone else walked 9-10 miles a day.  I am really gonna have to work when I get home now.

    Doesn't it figure.

Here is to a speedy recoveryDrinks [D] The good thing about warm weather places is they have a lot of fresh fruits and veggies.  Pig out on those and maybe the lack of walking won't effect you as bad.

Re: We had a losing weight thread once

I have just started on the loosing weight thing. I have been steadily gaining weight for about two years and am not happy with it at all. I have put on about 40 pounds in college.

The majority of my family is over weight and I know I need to change for health reasons. I also wouldn't mind looking better.

I only started regularly exercising this last week. I really want to stick with it. Sadly, the school pool does not have summer hours or else I would swim laps a few times a week. And the gym closes at 7. I get home from work at 5:30 and am rather hungry. So I make dinner and everything and by the time I get done its 6:30 and I don't want to work out right after I eat.

I bought a work out dvd and I really like doing it. Its only 30 minutes long, but feels like half the time. I got it from Prevention women's health magazine that I accidentally got a free subscription for. I checked out there website last week and they have a lot of good stuff on it. Including a health tracker that I find very helpful in really watching and examining what I have been eating. It is also good for keeping track of how many calories you burn a day. I know its not 100% accurate, but it has to be close.

After entering the food I have been eating all week, this next trip to the store is going to be very different.

Here is the link if anyone is interested. The health tracker is at the top right.

Congratulations on your new goal, to be healthy!  Keep us posted.

I am freaking out becasue we are leaving for vacation Friday...I am resolving to exercise every AM with my hubby and the food portions are "gourmet" so I shouldn't be overdoing the intake...I told my hubby to help me be strong when it comes to dessert...my weakness...they have fresh fruit, though, so that may work for most of the trip...I would like to stay the same, even if I don't lose, by the time I get back.

Vacation is a hard place to exercise, I prefer taking the time to relax. Good Luck. Fresh fruit is the best desert, strawberries with just a few chocolate chips. Amazing! I hope you have a nice trip.

I am happy because after one week of really trying some diet and exercise I have lost 4 pounds! My goal was 2.

4 pounds is awesome!  Now don't get discouraged if you don't do another 4 the next week.  Exercising was great in Bermuda.  We got up everyday about 6:30/7AM and went to the gym.  I did 30 minutes on the elliptical daily and we did a lot of walking.  I ate very good, too, except for the last night...BBQ that was a little too good...I stayed the same, so I am happy I didn't gain.

Going on vacation and not gaining is an accomplishment. I’m glad you had a good time.Cool [H]

I have been trying to do good, but my birthday and 3 separate people who felt the need to buy me cake haven’t been that helpful. I am looking forward to weighting my self again soon. I don’t have a scale so it’s a bit difficult.

Re: We had a losing weight thread once

That might actually be a blessing in some ways. Sometimes, people get so discouraged by not losing or by gaining a pound or two, so some doctors recommend not weighing yourself too often. Are your clothes getting loose? That is usually the best indicator, particularly if you are working out, since you'd be gaining muscle (which is heavier than fat so might make the scale be a bit off).

Re: We had a losing weight thread once

A little bit, but that could be wishful thinking. It is a bit quick to see much in the way in results. I will be happy if I can just keep in the habit of eating right and exercising nearly everyday. I feel so much better on the days that I do then the days I don’t.
