Yes [Y] The Dictionary of All Symphony of Ages Knowledge!

Here is a Guide I made of all the names, people, places, lore, etc… I could find for now of the Symphony of Ages (Rhapsody through The Assassin King, so beware of SPOILERS). I will continue to add on to this. But the reason why I'm doing this is because, (like myself) I forget certain things and need a little "handy-dandy," guide to look things up just to refresh on certain things. So I hope this is helpful. Big Smile [:D]

(If you find something incorrect, or want to correct something, please, feel free to do so by posting a comment about the word/definition. Remember, this isn't completed, so more will be added and something’s may be corrected later).

TAKE NOTE: The words in Green need to have a definition or description added. You also have to highlight the definitions to see them, this removes the possibility of seeing a SPOILER. You may also print this guide out for easy access!

    PLEASE ALSO TAKE NOTE:

This Guide is strictly for personal use only. This guide (The Dictionary of All Symphony of Ages Knowledge) will not be published or any creations of Elizabeth Haydon copyrighted by any other person without consulting the author or publisher. All things based on the Symphony of Ages is copyrighted by Elizabeth Haydon and Tor Fantasy.

Abbat Mythlinis - Avonderre’s Elemental Basilica of Water. Abbat Mythlinis "Father of the Ocean-born." Falsely referred to as "Master of the Sea".

Abbey of the Sun - A tiny cloister in the outer ecclesiastical district, where Rhonwyn the Seer was reputed to live.

Abner, Percy - Bandits that attacked Rath in the book: The Assassin King.

Abria jirist hyst avetis bec - I love to watch you squat. Words Ashe says to Rhapsody within Gwynwood in Prophecy, Child of Earth.

Achmed, the Snake - The Assassin King of Ylorc, and one of the Three. Half Dhracian/Firbolg. Achmed the Snake was born from a Dhracian mother that was raped by his Firbolg father by the toss of the bones. He was originaly named Ysk (look up definition to learn more about name) by the Firbolg and with the toss of the bones again, he was given over to the winner, under duress, to the demon that was his enemy.

But before he was given over to Tsoltan, he was tortured, imprisoned, and feared by the Bolg because he couldn't help his blood lust for killing. In order to escape, he kills his brother-of-sorts and eats him. Later on he happens to fall into the hands of Father Halphasion whom tries to train him in the arts of healing and renames him The Brother, brother to all, akin to none in the monastery in the foothills of the High Reaches. But after an accident at Quieth Keep where he is training, one or several certain someone’s that he cared deeply for die, and The Brother leaves to become an assassin.

The Brother keeps a "mail-box," of sorts in a Mountain range, where any person could leave him a note or money, bread, or anything else. The next day, they could come back, and if the note was gone along with whatever they offered (sometimes they didn't offer anything except the request of assassination) then the Brother took up there offer. But if the note remained, then they were to leave immediately and dare not ask for the same assassination again. Nobody stole from the Brother's mailbox. Later on, The Brother is working for Tsoltan, where he (perhaps) meets the Sergeant Major, Grunthor. The two become allies, and Tsoltan gives The Brother an assignment to give a message to a F' Dor that is in the desert beyond the Fallen Land Bridge and to report back what he has learned.

The Brother carries on this assignment till he sees the Vault of the Underworld where the F'dor our caged, and flees in fear. Grunthor escapes along with him after a terrible accident involving his troops, and together they head to Easton where they meet up with Rhapsody. Rhapsody accidentally changes The Brother's name to Achmed, the Snake because she wanted to convince the guards that were chasing her that he was "her brother," to frighten them off. The name that she re-named him, Achmed, the Snake, is suppose to sound scary. With that, the chain that held the Brother in the demon's clutches snaps, and Achmed the Snake kidnaps Rhapsody in insurance of his name.

Later on, after the Three pass through the earth after fourteen centuries he establishes his own kingdom by taking over Ylorc that was held by the Firbolg. He then starts to rebuild Ylorc to its formal glory, Canrif, even making modifications on Gwylliam's inventions. He even invents his own weapons, and weapons for the bolg. He becomes a very powerful leader, and part of the Alliance with the Lord and Lady Cymrian. Achmed is also known for being rude, and manipulating others to extend his own plans and ends. But he is not all cold-hearted as some are lead to believe. He will go to whatever end to keep his closest friends, Rhapsody and Grunthor, along with the bolg out of harms way. Ironic, that he has killed a large populace of Serendair when he is protector of all. For he protects the Sleeping Child.

    Remark by Elizabeth Haydon:

Achmed wears the cwellan, which is like an extension of his body, on a leather strap sling that crosses his chest like a thin Miss America sash. The cwellan, when not in use, is carried on his back. If he is walking, and needs to bring it into position, it is pulled up over his hip and into horizontal attitude from under his right arm. If he is riding, it comes over his left shoulder and into horizontal attitude. Achmed, by the way, is ambidextrous.

Cwellen Disk - Disk used for the Cwellen. Whisper thin metal disks made of rysin-steel (the newer disc of the cwellen made in the forges of Ylorc), each the size of a maple leaf. The rysin-steeled disc are extremely malleable when heated, which has been shrunk to a compact size by cold manufacture. Once inside the body and exposed to heat they swell in vast proportion with jagged edges, expanding the original damage many times over. Cwellen is actually an old word for “kill,” in English.

Dhracian - The descendants of the Kith. Jailers and Hunters of the F’dor. They can find the F'dor by natural ability. Dhracians were one of the Elder races, older indeed than all but the Firstborn, and they were the ancient enemies of the F'dor. They have a racial hatred of the demonic spirits that ran immensly deep, and they set forth on an ancient crusade to rid the world of them. The Dhracians, though humanlike, were also in many ways insect like, and lived in deep caverns within the earth. They were said to be very quick, very agile, and they could sense the F'dor.

A Dhracian, by the strange pattern of its natural rhythms, can hold a F'dor in thrall, make it impossible for it to escape from the host while the ritual is in force. In theory, a Dhracian could help sniff the demon out, and hold its body while someone else killed it. Then both parts, the human and the demon, would be destroyed.

Dhracians are tall, straight and have wide shoulder, long thighs and shins, and gangly arms ending in strong, sinewy hands. The skin is translucent, and scoured with a network of fine blue veins, iridescent marble. They have large, black eyes which make up most of the face. The eyes are heavily lidded and without apparent schleras; no white at all can be seen, rather they resembled two wide ovals of darkness, broken only by a large, silvery pupil.

Oelendra had long forgotten the song of the Fallen Sister Star to Melita (Oelendra) since she left the Island of Serendair till Rhapsody sang it.

Dol Mwl - Liringlas drink. A gentle mead or honey drink, with oranges mixed with a medley of hibiscus, rosehips, clovers, and cinnamon blended with other subtler spices. Humans distaste the Liringlas golden-red liquid, and the Gwenen and other Lirin of the wood couldn't make it correctly.

What did the Kith look like? Kith were [and are] in many ways like the Masai of Kenya. Unlike the Seren, who were tall and thin in a very non-corporeal way, the Kith were built like distance runners, with long muscles and wiry frames. They ran like the wind over the ground, and had other aspects of the element as well: a harshness of attitude, or at least a stoicism, a nomadic nature, and a tendency toward music in their speech. Their skin was generally dark, anywhere from chestnut to coal-black, and their eyes were large and dark as well. There were a few examples of Kith who were almost clear of skin and eye, but they were anomalies. Lirin [who are partially descended from them] get their angled bone structure and their wide, almond shaped eyes from the Kith. They are beautiful people, but not particularly warm, at least for the most part.
