    New Art Projects

Hey guys.  I don't know if there's already a thread for artwork (or requests for such, besides the cookbook artwork) so I went ahead and created a new one.

If I have trouble sleeping, sometimes I like to pick one of the SoA books at random, open it to a random part, and then just read until I get sleepy.  Last night, I picked Prophecy, and I read about the part where Rhapsody calls Ashe to Elysian.

The quote "She left the room, Ashe's heart following her out the door" (457) struck me like it hadn't before.  Here's a short lead-up to that quote, for those who don't remember the context:

"How about some tea?"  she asked.  Smiling.  "I know you hate the way I make it, but you can steep it yourself.  I'll get the pot.  Why don't you rest here?  I'll be right back."
She left the room, Ashe's heart following her out the door.
    Prophecy, 457.
And then Madhatter's drawing from the Christmas card swap popped into my head, and I tried to imagine this scene on paper.  I picture Ashe sitting/laying on the bed with this longing look on his face, while Rhapsody is almost to the door with his heart hovering in the air behind her, and there's this whisp of wind or something that flows from Ashe's chest to just behind Rhapsody.  I know that if I tried to draw it, it would just look stupid and I'd hate it (because I can't draw for crap).

If anyone who CAN draw is just absolutely bored after the holidays...I'd be interested in seeing any renditions.  I don't want this to seem like a "commission for artwork" or anything.  It just struck me last night, and I thought I'd post about it so that if anyone was looking for an idea for their next drawing...

    Re: New Art Projects

I moved this to the Whole Thing section, AL, because we try to keep spoilers out of the general forums.

Just an idea, you might be more talented than you think.  You could try DAZ Studio (accessed through the "software" subheading, here) and try your hand at digital art.  It is a free download, although additional products/figures can be bought at their posted prices.  These types of pictures (as long as they follow the submission guidelines for resolution and subject matter) will also be eligible for consideration in choosing the cookbook illustrations.

    Re: New Art Projects

So while I was at the hearing today (see ANTI-RANTS thread for more info on that), I was semi-bored when they were ploughing through all of the boring stuff.  I started to try to draw this scene.

I got the bedpost and Ashe's knees, legs, and feet before I realized that, no matter how bored I was, it wasn't going to turn out like in my head!  haha  (of course, it probably didn't help that I was almost nodding off with the pen in my hand, and when I would come to, I had drawn a line wrong:  crooked when it was supposed to be straight, a line that didn't curve right...that kind of stuff)

I'm excited to see your drawings, though!!

    Re: New Art Projects

I can’t draw very well (although, I’m currently attempting the above described scene with my limited capability---however, things aren’t going so well) so I offer the below image in the mean time.

    http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0443680/Ss/0443680/JJD2.jpg.html?path=gallery&path_key=0443680

This snapshot is EXACTLY how I imagined Achmed looking (minus an eye patch) when he, Rhapsody, & Grunthor hid amongst the tall stalks of grass when they first tried to sneak into the Lirin forest to get to Sagia (you can’t see the Duchess or the Sergeant Major in the picture because they were ducking low at that very momentWink [;)]).  “And what about the gun?” you ask.  “The gun, what gun?  Oh that gun, that’s not a gun---that’s his cwellan.”  *whew*  Heh, heh, at least his clothes are the right color.

Lightning [li] Sam, you know better...

I got busted (and shot with lightning) for posting copyrighted pictures.Embarrassed [:$]

That's what you get for trying to gank my thread.  (KIDDING KIDDING!)  It's okay....the artists who CAN draw hopefully like commissions, since this is the second one Smile [:)]

You think Achmed would be STANDING UP in the middle of the field when he knows that the Lirindarc (I think that's who they were) were watching???  hmmmmmm  I think you just like it when Achmed looks like Brad Pitt (well, minus the cigarette) Wink [;)]

    Re: New Art Projects

Hey Krinsel, I tried downloading the 3d Digital Design software, and when I tried opening the program, it wouldn't open. I have Windows XP and everything, is it because I don't have a graphics card, or is it because the program has been up for a while that it is no longer useable? All it appears on my computer as a corrupted or dead file with an A. Crying [:'(]

    Re: New Art Projects

Hmmm...I checked the link since they changed the site format from the time this thread was originally posted, and it still seems to work.  Did you download DazStudio 2.2 (try this link)?  That seems to be the most current one.  If you are having problems, you might want to check their troubleshooting FAQs, forums or the system requirements link located on the drop down menu to the left once you access the link I just gave you.Smile [:)]  I'm sorry I can't help more, but I've never used DazStudio myself since I already had Poser 6 when I became a DAZ member.

A few other Cauldronites have used the Studio program with stunning results - I hope you can get these issues worked out so that we can see some of your artistic impressions soon! Smile [:)]

    Re: New Art Projects

Hmm, ill try re-downloading it one more time. And if nothing comes of it, oh well. Could be that I don't have some kind of system requirement, although I don't exackly know what it may be...

Yep, nothing. It appears as a EFW File, and whenever I try to open it, nothing happens. Maybe when I buy myself a new computer, ill try re-downloading it than.

If it's Symphony of Ages related you can post it in this section, anything else can go into the Loritorium.
