    TAK: What next?

I finished TAK last night and feel so empty now because there is no EH book on the horizon to look forward to. I know another one will come eventually but how long will we have to wait?  And how do you think the plot will progress - IMO Ashe and Achmed are going to have to work together to kill the F'dor/Falon. And hopefully Grunthor will have a bigger part to play - he was very quiet all throughout TAK.

    Re: TAK: What next?

I brought up some possibilities of this in a "What If" thread and "2nd installment of the War of the Known World trilogy," but that was after I shall this thread, so I'll post my thoughts here:

I believe Grunthor and Rath will team up to battle down Faron and his new little F'Dor buddy. Talquist, of course, will attack Ylorc and every other Alliance Nation, and since he made a deal with the F'Dor he will try to gain the rib key from the Sleeping Child, possibly awaken her on accident. Rhapsody will continue to monitor the Lightcatcher. And Achmed might have to go into the Vault of the Underworld itself to battle the final remaining F'Dor and wipe the slime of the face of the Earth. Big Smile [:D]

And Ashe should go Dragon or die. I think Achmed might die in protecting the Sleeping Child or going into the Vault. Elizabeth Haydon did say that we wouldn't like what happens to Achmed and Ashe in the end.

    Re: TAK: What next?

I believe. It's a possibility, a thought. I'm not saying that is exactly what Haydon said, but that's what I think may happen. Either Ashe will die of old age or go Dragon to commune with the elements. I'll have to go look in the old Questions for Elizabeth Haydon threads to dig it out.

    Re: TAK: What next?

Okay, I have tried to locate the exact quote from Elizabeth, but after trying to read through 3 threads of re-posted questions, I haven't seen it. If anyone else knows where it is, I'd ask you to please post it here.

What she said was not anything specifically about "not liking what happens to Ashe and Achmed", nor anyone else for that matter. If I am remembering correctly, she was implying that not everyone would be happy about the ending in general, but that the end would come as it was supposed to. Let me repeat, nothing was specific to or about any particular charater(s), but the statement was a general one.

As MN sort of implied already, this was something that Elizabeth said a while ago, and we don't have the actual quote, so it is easy to misinterpret.

Yeah Valecynos, I can't find the quote anywhere, and I recall reading it in one of the threads, I'll keep searching for it, but I don't think I'll be able to find it anytime soon...

    Re: TAK: What next?

I really wish we still had the discussion following the Letter From Elizabeth thread about the release of TAK, I believe she brought up the little "Quote," about how some of us might not like the ending of Achmed or Ashe (once again, I'm not saying that is specific, I just remember reading something about that, and I still do believe it was about Achmed and Ashe, correct me if I'm wrong again V). She also said something about that the whole "love triangle," between Ashe, Rhapsody, and Achmed didn't cross her mind as such, ect... Does anybody have the replies from that post anywhere? Tongue Tied [:S]

I don't anymore, Ely used to have a copy - maybe one of the other mods does? I remember her saying something about it being like Dante's Inferno.

    Re: TAK: What next?

    " Dear Friends,

I apologize for the long delay in getting you the answers to your questions, and for the disappointing information that THE ASSASSIN KING has, in fact, been delayed until fall of next year. It will be coming out in the same season as the first book in my new young adult series, about which I am very excited. The new series is called The Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme and the book title is THE FLOATING ISLAND. We have been keeping this project under wraps but you should be hearing quite a bit about it soon. A sneak peek will be available on this site a few months before its release. This new series takes place in the same world and history as The Symphony of Ages, but in the Second Age, an earlier, more magical time. This series connects many of the dots in the SOA, and is for both young adults and adults who are young at heart.

I am very sorry that you have to wait so much longer for THE ASSASSIN KING. If it's any consolation, the seventh book [and second book of the War of the Known World trilogy] should follow it shortly, so there will be less of a delay in the story.

I hope this finds you all well, especially those of you in the southeast/Gulf Coast region. My thoughts are with all of you; I thank you deeply for your interest in my work and for all I have learned from you.

    With warmest wishes,

    Elizabeth"

This was the one I found so far...but I don't think it's what you are looking for.

edit: I'mnot finding anything else that isn't already here...sorry.

    Re: TAK: What next?

I looked too and couldn't find it. I am certain it was in those questions though. I think we're just overlooking it. But I am 99.9% sure she did not say that we wouldn't like what happened with Achmed and Ashe specifically, but rather was referring to how things ended up in general. However, since I cannot find the quote, I cannot be 100% sure.Huh? [:^)]

I remember this quotation, too. She said something like, we wouldn't like what would be happening with Achmed (somewhat in future). I really hope he will not die! - would just be too sad... No news about the next book? Didn't Mri Nuin said something like she wanted to write Ms Haydon a letter (didn't find the thread she wrote this right now..)?

    Re: TAK: What next?

Yeah Yliessan, I did send Elizabeth Haydon an email, asking about an update on the movie and if she had any ideal when the next book will be released. But I got no reply, sadly as it is, maybe she thought it was junk mail?

All I can say is that I suspect we will hear about the next book once The Dragon's Lair is released.

    Symphony of the Ages Movie(s)???

I still think an animated movie of the SOA series might have a chance. Just think of Princess Monoke or Spirited Away?

I was thinking of actually sending "Her Majesty," an email asking if the movie is still being made. I'm afraid to doing so though because I think it might be rude, because if Haydon wanted to tell us she would (plus she is busy writing books, taking care of her kids and living a life). But it's odd that we haven't heard anything or update in a loooonnnnggggg while. What do you think of this? Do you think I should send her an email asking? Maybe it's worth a try?

    Re: TAK: What next?

Hmm. It could still be interesting if it was animated, and there might be less chance to mess the plot up, then

I think you should try asking her about it :) (why don't you make this a new topic?)

    Re: TAK: What next?

I could try sending her another Email, but than I'm afraid that might be a little “naggy.” It has been a while, but maybe she hadn’t been able to check all her email? I think ill wait it out a bit longer, and than try sending her another one.

I assumed that if EH wanted to tell us something, she would come to the Cauldron and tell us herself. But maybe since she's so wound-up in the Ven books, life in particular, ect... she hadn’t had that thought on her mind, maybe she even forgot about the Cauldron, although I highly doubt that.

    Re: TAK: What next?

Ahh...we'll just have to content ourselves with the new up and coming Ven book. Maybe the publishers didn't want to publish her Ven book and her SoA book so close together. In the meantime, there's Dragon's Lair and the mountain of to-be-read books that I have piling up in my room. As long as I have a book to read, I am content.

    Re: TAK: What next?

Yes eternal light, EH drops in now and again to tell us the news, what’s been keeping her, about the next book, her occasional "digs," and what she has in store for us. Its been a while, she used to be more active years ago when she wasn't so busy (as you can probably see with the Questions for Elizabeth Threads) its hard proof evidence that she came here more often.

Seeing that TAK came out around Christmas time, I assume that the next SOA book will come out than. We should hear about it (as I'm saying again) sometime after The Dragon's Lair is released here in the US. I doubt that Haydon answered, or even shall my email, so I guess ill just wait it out and see if my assumptions are correct. Big Smile [:D]

    Re: TAK: What next?

If I remember correctly, there are only two more books remaining to be published that were contracted for the 8 original "SoA" stories.  I don't know how many books were slated for the Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme - as far as we've been told Elizabeth is still discovering and reconstructing them Wink [;)]

I do remember there being an extended delay in the release of the Ven books.  Even though they are technically the same publisher, different divisions handle the intricacies of each series...and those of us that have worked in corporate environments know that each department has its own set of requirements - and don't always see eye to eye, or run seamlessly in conjunction with each other Wink [;)], even though the overall business objective is the same for the entire company.

My guess is that Elizabeth doesn't know herself when the next book is going to be published, and rather than take the risk of unintentionally revealing potential spoilers, has chosen to stay quiet so as not to disappoint her fans who are waiting for the conclusion of the story.
