Re: The Dictionary of All Symphony of Ages Knowledge!

That’s an interesting thought Krinsel. I have found another small clue as to whom the Gwenen might be when Oelendra and Rhapsody are discussing Dol Mwl and one mentions that the Liringlas drink could only be made by Liringlas, and that the Gwenen and Lirin, people of the wood could not make it themselves. Ill have to fish out the page number later, but its in Prophecy, Child of Earth.

Can anybody give me a description of the Mythlin? Like what exactly they looked like, I know they were a Firstborn race of the element of water, but that’s pretty much it.

Re: The Dictionary of All Symphony of Ages Knowledge!

Aren't Mythlin the water-based race that live in cities on the bottom of the oceans?  I seem to remember them being vaguely mermaid like.  (Not sure of the differences between them and merrows.)  There might have been mention of them in Threshold.  And aren't humans supposed to be partly descended from them?

Sorry if I'm off.  It's been a long while since I've read anything but the new Ven books.

Re: The Dictionary of All Symphony of Ages Knowledge!

Yes, they were one of the First-born, descended from Water. And I don't remember where it says it, but it does say humans are descended from them, and that's why they are drawn to the sea, and their blood and tears are salty. The Mythlin had no soul, because they decided to stay beneath the waves; Elynsynos said that in Prophecy to Rhapsody when she is telling her about the nature of the soul and its relationship to the sky. The Mythlin had their capitol in the sea, and it was destroyed along with most of their race by the heat of the Sleeping Child when it consumed Serendair. You can find that Requiem when Ashe is talking with MacQuieth. Also, the Nain are partly descended from them. Stone is like water in their hands. If I run across more, I'll add it. But I can't think of anything else right now.

Updated the Dictionary of All Symphony of Ages Knowledge today and I’ am now re-reading Destiny, Child of the Sky. So more definitions should be added and ones that are already put-in should be updated, along with the words that don’t have a definitions will be edited as well. Big Smile [:D]

Re: The Dictionary of All Symphony of Ages Knowledge!

Heres the rest of the words that don't have a description yet, the only exception to this is Gwenen (since we don't know whom the Gwenen are as of yet):

    1. Elara.

    2. Fergus.

    3. Grand Balcony.

    4. The Great Sea.

    5. Gwenen.

    6. Jakar.

    7. Madarian.

    8. Men of the Forge.

And there are currently no Xs in existence. I got a feeling that most of these words are in Destiny, since I kind of left Requiem for the Sun and Elegy for a Lost Star out for now and skipped to The Assassin King when I was looking up definitions a while back.

Words thus far: 669 words in total. Words known still to be defined: 8.

I'm on page 498 in Destiny, Child of the Sky. Geeked [8-|]

Re: The Dictionary of All Symphony of Ages Knowledge!

Updated the Dictionary yet again today, fixed some of the order of the words into a more alphabetical order and added in some words and definitions from Elegy for a Lost Star. I just did a quick skim of the book, so all definitions from that particular book are not added as of yet, so keep that in mind. I’m going to try to finish Destiny, Child of the Sky today so I can get to work on re-reading Requiem for the Sun and finally the last two books that are released so far. I also added in some more definitions from Destiny, Child of the Sky.

Re: The Dictionary of All Symphony of Ages Knowledge!

I just noticed this while reading Destiny, Child of the Sky:

    Page 670, USA Paperback edition.

A group of running child with silver-blue coloring that shone in the sun like light on the sea...

Could this be a small reference or clue as to whom the Gwenen were? Or is it just me? We never heard this description referred to the Ancient Seren, Benegard, Nain, Dhracians, Firbolg, Gwadd or even Lirin and Mythlin. And like Krinsel said about EH sticking to the traditions of meanings and how she names her characters, like Gwen means: “white, blessed.” It kind of resembles that type of atmosphere, light coloring such as silver or blue… That just reminded me of that.

IDK, what do you all think? I'm babbling, aren't I? Stick out tongue [:P]

I'm thinking the sea Lirin were called either Lirinmer or Lirinmar--but I can't remember. I could be totally wrong.
