Re: Let's See How Big of a Fan You Are...
Hmmm...it's been at least two years since my friend bought the books for me. They were either a birthday present or a graduation gift...but since my birthday is always around the time when people graduate, I really can't remember. I just couldn't and can't get through them. I made it to chapter 2 the first try, and then to 9 the second. They say that third times the charm, but I haven't attempted to read it in a while.
But Magician and Destiny are not on the same level, and there is no excuse for her not finishing it! She's had a longer time than I have had to read Magician to read Destiny (if my grammar makes sense there...). It is unacceptable.

I recently got my younger sibeling to read "certain parts," of Rhapsody to me. We are currently past the point where Rhapsody sang her morning devotions and Grunthor remarks on it.
He actually likes it, jokes about certain parts from time to time. Another being recruited into the SOA universe! ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif)

Today I went out and bought my friend Haley two of the Ven Polypheme books (The Floating Island and the Thief Queen's Daughter) since she allowed me to borrow her Breaking Dawn book.

Re: Let's See How Big of a Fan You Are...
I recently (somehow) got my brother to read the series. He's on Requiem now. After ten years of talking/raving/praising about the series, he finally stole them out of my bookshelf. So I count that as a major win. :D

I got someone at BAM to buy Rhapsody just the other day. ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif) He was searching for a particular fantasy author (don't remember which one but I hadn't heard of him), and we only had two of the books from the series, but not the one he wanted. Anyway, when I described the books a bit to him, he decided to buy Rhapsody. ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif) P.S. Congrats of graduating ILA!!! WOOT!! ![Party!!! Re: Let's See How Big of a Fan You Are...
I convinced my mum. It was hard because she has to read the books in English (which is not her mother language). She hasn't finished Destiny yet but I'm proud of her. It's fine to have an EH fan in my family!

Re: Let's See How Big of a Fan You Are...
One of my cousins is reading Prophecy now, although I didn't start her on the series. I loaned her Prophecy, though, because she got Rhapsody from the school library and that was all they had. So I guess I'm making her continue to read them, because otherwise she'd probably start reading something else. I'm just glad to have someone to talk to about them.
I'm meaning to get my mom and my friends on them too, but my mom is currently reading another series that I recommended to her, and after that I planned on loaning her Breaking Dawn because that's the only one out of the Twilight series that she hasn't read yet. After those, though, maybe I'll get her on this series.
I was planning on buying all the SoA for one of my friends for Christmas, but I may only be able to get her the first two or three because I still have to get presents for all my family (which includes four people on my side and five people on my husband's, including him). But hopefully by getting her at least the first one she'll like them so much she'll buy herself the rest. If not her birthday's in April, so maybe I could get her the rest then.

Re: Let's See How Big of a Fan You Are...
I've bought Rhapsody's french edition to my brother a month ago. He has promised me to read it soon but since he has lots of work I'm going to wait a few more weeks to collect his impressions.

Re: Let's See How Big of a Fan You Are...
I remember I loaned the first three books of the SoA trilogy to someone, but when she returned them she forgot to give me back Rhapsody. And that is like the most important one! LOL. And even though it totally bugged the crap out of me, I couldn’t ask for it back because I didn’t want to come off as the type of guy who needed to have all of his Romantic Fantasy books to function properly. LOL. So I had to suck it up and buy another one.
So being the cheapskate that SIA is; not only does he wait for the clearance sale when the local bookstore goes out of business, but he actually waits to the second to the last day when every remaining object in the bookstore is like 40% off. LOL. And even though the Fantasy section (along with everything else) was pretty much bare bones by then… it still had a few copies of Rhapsody left. So I grabbed the paperback and headed to the front and when the girl at the register rang up the book out of nowhere she said something like, “Oh, this book is really good!”
And what does SIA say back? Does SIA say something cool in return? Does SIA whisper a fancy SoA quote in reply? *scratches head* Nope. He says a quick, “I know” and flees. Hahaha. This was my one moment to be Ashe and I pulled an Achmed. ROFL.
But you gotta cut me some slack because it was just so unexpected you know? And… and… people were waiting in line behind… And… and… it’s not like she talked to anyone else either so I had no warning… And… and… the transaction was just too fast. Too fast!!! I needed more time to think of something to say... twenty minutes would have been enough. LMAO.
*sigh* And walking away I started to think of all things I could have said instead and I wanted to punch myself in the head. LOL. And it didn’t even have to be a recitation of one of Ashe’s poetic soliloquies about Rhapsody either. I mean it could’ve been something simple… you know like, “Yup. Rhapsody was awesome. Sam and Emily… Always.” And then I could’ve just smiled and walked away (and for better or worse ingrained myself into her memory). ARGH! *punches self in head* LOL. I needed more time…
