See, that where not having seen the old Doctor Who series comes in handy; no pre-conceived notions. Although, you may be on to something. I don't like him either, but I think it's more because he's an evil Time Lord. I kind of feel like the whole silliness thing gives more weight to the Doctor's story about him having gone mad. The Master is mad, of that I have no doubt. The fact that he finds destroying a tenth of the human race amusing, as if everyone was really playing an elaborate board game of some kind, well, it is awfully cold. But again, I didn't see the original (or one of the past ones, at any rate) so the old Master may have been even more...creepy...disturbing...whatever you want to call it. This guy is pretty disturbing to me. He's so jolly about it all. ![Surprise [:O]](/emoticons/emotion-3.gif) So...we wait some more, then we wait a whole season. ![Crying [:'(]](/emoticons/emotion-9.gif) *Reminds self that patience is a virtue*

*** WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS ***
I'm not entirely sure about that part either. I dont know if this series ran parallel with Torchwood in the UK or if it ran before. I just assumed Jack put it in another container.
Take a look at the Wikipedia article on the Master. Discounting Eric Roberts and the two who have appeared recently, the top row are the classic Masters. They always reminded me of Italian Renaissance men, like Leonardo da Vinci with the heart and soul of James Moriarty.
WARNING: The Wikipedia article above has spoilers in it for the episode that has not played in the US yet.
<Geek Alert> TARDIS is an acronym for "Time And Relative Dimension In Space." It has Dimensional Transcendentalism (it's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside) and a Chameleon circuit to diguise itself. The Doctor's TARDIS has a broken chameleon circuit and is stuck on a 1960's era police call box. Now recall Jack's explaination to Gwen about why no one can see the elevator coming out of Torchwood. </Geek Alert>

Nope not Kate. Whoever it is I think that you wont be able to get her out of your head.
Donna is returning to be the next companion.
I thought the same thing about the Face of Bo comment. I sure didn't see that one coming.
I'm wondering if we'll get series 4 at the same time as the UK does now.

I just re-watched The Runaway Bride and noticed something. Whenever they mention Torchwood a little bit of the Torchwood theme plays in the background. I didn't notice it the first time through because I hadn't seen Torchwood back then.

LOL! G that was too funny! Thanks for the YouTube link. Did you see the one with a more feminine David Tennant? Cheesy, yet pretty funny. Poor David has problems with pumps, it seems. ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) He couldn't seem to stand on his own. I liked the end, but I hate that Martha Jones is gone. I didn't care much for Donna. Maybe she'll be better now, assuming she took the Doctor's advice and chose to "be magnificent".

Knowing what her comedy is like and then after watching the episode again, I liked her a lot more than I originally did.
Sonic screwdrivers have so many different uses.
The video was the first comedy piece that I'd seen her do. And trying to figure out what she was actually saying was difficult (I'm not bovvered/bothered!). Especially since she was "Shakespearing" it up a bit in that clip. YouTube doesn't have Closed Captioning like BBCA does. So I looked for some other videos of her playing Lauren on YouTube and figured it out. BBCA plays her comedy show weeknights, in the middle of the night. I have my TiVo set to record her.
The video of her with the PM was very funny, AND with the Queen...LOL
I read somewhere that this will be the very first time that the Doctor's companion will be older than the actor playing the Doctor.
Martha will be back, but not right away. And I'm hoping that wont be the end of the Master. He tends to show up again and again even when you think he is dead.
BTW when I re-watched Runaway Bride there was mention of an order to open fire order on the alien spider lady's space ship. Saxon gave the order. Obviously the producers have been planning this for a long time. I'm curious to see if there are any mentions in Series 2 about him.

Winebrat wrote:I'm just a tad confused about something...The Torchwood episode when the hand canister gets broken...where does that fall in the timeline in respect to this? Are we assuming the hand canister was broken and he replaced it before running with it onto the TARDIS? Or are the timelines different?
After seeing the series finale of Torchwood, I'd say the Doctor Who episode in question happened just after the end of the Torchwood season.

Well the first episode with Catherine Tate as permanent companion aired tonight. I love her comedy and I'm happy to see her reprising her role as Donna.
But without posting any spoilers for people who havent seen the episode yet.
ZOMG THE ENDING!

I really liked her too. She was funny as all get out. That was a crazy episode. ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif) I was so blown away by that end, too!! I cannot wait to see what this means for future episodes!! Can I just say, with missing all these great shows (Heroes, Eureka, Chuck, Journeyman) I am sooo glad the Doctor is in!!

Yay! Tate is back! Although I can't get out of my head her "Mulder" character, DI Angie Barker...

I just watched it. HOLY CRAP!! Oh, if you haven't seen the second part of this episode, turn back now...Spoilers!! Did you see Rose? I almost missed her, they showed it so quickly. Man, I cannot wait to see what happens with Rose in future episodes! Martha and Donna on another episode? I wonder if they'll find Rose all together. And then the previews for next week..."Hello Dad"?!? No way! ![Surprise [:O]](/emoticons/emotion-3.gif) OMG!! So he's not the last Time Lord?!? I'm dying to know who her mother is. Surely cannot be one of the human women, or could that be possible. I seem to remember the Doctor saying at some point that the two races were incompatible, but maybe I'm wrong. Of course, who's to say that Time Lords have two parents, anyway? I had to rewind it twice to be sure that the girl actually said "dad". Come on Friday!!
