    Re: The Poser Channel

Very nice, D. Did you paint the hair?

You know, she kind of looks like  that chick from Battlestar Gallattica, the one whose name just escaped me...she's a pilot, drunk all the time now and bitter, can't think of her name... Oh yeah!! Starbuck! It finally hit me. Big Smile [:D] Anyway, she kind of looks like Starbuck.

Thanks Val - she does look a bit like Starbuck, she must've been in the back of my mind when I did it. Big Smile [:D] Hair is poser - I haven't done much painting lately I'm afraid. Embarrassed [:$]

Wow, Duchess, I really like your most recent blond gal!  Her necklace looks ALMOST like I picture the F'dor amulet!  Wink [;)]  almost

The hair is also very nice, but let me compliment you on her lips!!!  They look so.....realistic!  I think they're amazing!

    Re: The Poser Channel

That is really great, D.  I second the comments about the hair and the lips.  But what captured my interest after first glance was how real the texture of her skin was.  It was rosy and it even had freckles!  Her eyes are a really unique shade of green.  Beautiful as always.  Big Smile [:D]

Thanks guys - I am glad you enjoyed the pic. Smile [:)] I cant really take credit for the textures (wish I could!) I guess Poser is similar to photography in that you set the scene, lighting and ask the model to pose - but they have their own skins and what-not already.

Didn't Poser 6 just come out? I could have sworn that you were just talking about loading that onto your computer not too long ago! Confused [*-)]

That was just because I was having troubling accessing the Poser 6 I bought Back in Jan of 2005, I think. Huh? [:^)]Not sure about the new version; I have a picture cooking and am interested to see how it turns out. Smile [:)]

    Re: The Poser Channel

Meant to link this ages ago and forgot. My first test render in Poser 7 using AO lighting and skin settings. Took about 10 hours to render. It's a bit similar to one above because I wanted to see how the settings opperated in both.

This picture is a beta a version of a much better one I did - which got eaten by Poser 7 - bad bad bad program. It even ate the back-up. *Growls* The better one had so many nice adjustments too. Crying [:'(] Anyhow, you get the idea. Sorry for the size of these, will resize 'em later.

Blonde elf:  Her ears don't match the rest of her skin tone!

Girl against the wall:  her expression is like, "Whateva!  I do what I want!" to me Stick out tongue [:P]  Where's her other arm?  It looks like she's missing her left arm, even though I know it's probably just twisted behind her back.  It almost doesn't look like she's standing on the ground...

But these pics are still cool, nonetheless!

    Re: The Poser Channel

I love how you got the eyelashes "unclumpy" with those textures - are they the standard or high-res?  My closeup V4 renders have the "spider leg" lashes, and the eyes have a tendency to look like cataracts (reminds me of a certain SoA character).  You posted a hint a while back for undoing that problem, is it the same for V4?

And AL, I'm not certain about this, but those ears were probably not specific for the model Duchess used, which has its own set of textures.  In Poser, you can mix and match items, but if the textures weren't "mapped" for a particular morph, you will see a difference in the skin tones/makeup, etc.  It is a matter of trial and error in a lot of cases, and sometimes the results (after 10 hours or more, of rendering timeSurprise [:O]) aren't what we hoped, and we have to start over again.

I did say it was a beta. I spent several couple more hours working on a hugely improved version which got eaten by Poser. The final version had improved shadows, a different expression and her head was tilted away, she was closer to the wall and her flip flops were moved into a more natural pose away from her feet, which were also reposed. In addition to this the lighting was improved and the material settings on the door frame and floor were changed to look more realistic. This version was posted for interests sake rather than inviting a critique. Wink [;)] It's a verrry sore point with me right now so probs best not to mention any imperfections; because there's naff all I can do about them now. Crying [:'(] Oh and the arm is not twisted, it's a natural pose. Smile [:)] Maybe the angle indicates otherwise.

Krinsel, the eyelashed are simply the mat poses applied; not trickery it all worked well. Maybe V4 is better behaved than V3. Big Smile [:D]

Oh and the ears are all part of the same texture, I guess that vendor just makes theirs a little redder than the face (some people do have redder ears) the morph is different but that has no bearing on the texture.

So beta means "rough draft"?  Or at least, "not final version"?  (Sorry, I am not exactly familiar with that term except in reference to the fish that fight if you have more than one of them in a tank...)

And sorry, D.  I didn't mean to upset or offend you.  Embarrassed [:$]

    Re: The Poser Channel

*contented sigh* How I missed looking at these. Sometime, way back when, I downloaded some stuff from DAZ. Nothing done with it. I supposed I'm gonna have to figure out if I can figure out my account and such again. I'm on a new 'puter, anyways, so whatever I'd downloaded before isn't here. I have one person in particular that I want to try to recreate, although I probably won't find what I need for what I'm willing to spend. Stick out tongue [:P] She's in a story I've been writing, over at a Harry Potter site I frequent. Oh well, I guess it's worth a shot.

    Re: The Poser Channel

Alright, I have DAZ, I've started playing with it, I've downloaded some of the freebies from the DAZ site. I've even done a render. Someone please tell me what I'm doing? Stick out tongue [:P] I think you might be able to vaguely see the results of my fiddling in my avatar, if you squint really hard. There's always, of course, the possibility that my avatar won't load, and I'm to tired to wait to find out. It says it's a 91x91 image. Who knows? I certainly don't. Angel [A]

It must seem like I'm spamming this thread, but I promise I'm not! I've officially finished my first official scene, and I think it looks decent. So here it is!

    And here's the close-up:

I know there are some little bits off here and there (like the armband), but I think I exhausted enough effort, what with my efforts positioning the hair and boots. Stick out tongue [:P]

    Re: The Poser Channel

Great first try!  Body positioning is always the hardest for me...trying to get things to be natural.

I found the "trick" to the hair in DAZ is before you do anything else, when you have just a naked Vicki (or whoever) in their base pose.  Pick the hair and attach it to the head under the "scenes" tab or attach it to the head on the Right (if that's an option) not just Vicki. Then it follows her head however you turn it.

And since you are using it as your avi, make sure to give yourself credit in your sig, too.
