So, what is your hobby/s? Remember, do not (I repeat) DO NOT give out any additional information about yourself, such as where you live, how old you are, ect... This is a fun thread, so keep this in mind and respect others. Just because you might not like or agree with that person or their hobby, doesn't mean you have to criticize them.
Personally, I like working out, horseback riding, singing, drawing, writing, reading, web designing, photoshoping, playing video games, collecting horse racing newspapers, watching horse racing, swimming and going on boat rides. My favorite hobby would have to be going on boat rides on the river and adventuring on little islands, I even like to fish. If I had to choose between going on the ocean or the river, it would have to be the river. Reasons? More quiet, not too much space to travel on and its easier getting to shore, plus I love seeing manatees, stingrays and dolphins. ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
I'm with you on river vs ocean...give me serenity anyday.
My hobbies are wine (duh), cleaning and caring for the pups. The wine is not so much the snooty stuff, I just enjoy tasting and discussing it in a relaxed way. As for cleaning...it seems like in my spare time, that is what I usually wind up doing so it must be a hobby! And it's usually becasue of the pups...
I guess I am quite boring...Dancing used to be a hobby, but I haven't done that in about 10 or more years!

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
Hobbies...well apparently, homework is one of my hobbies. I just can't seem to get enough of it ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif) . I like to cook, watch movies, read, I used to play WoW, once in a great while I play Puzzle Pirates. Actually pretty well everything I have listed has been put on hold for school. I also like crafting sometimes, but again, I never seem to have enough time for it. So like I said, my hobby (for the time being) is homework. ![Crying [:'(]](/emoticons/emotion-9.gif) And for History, a lot of homework. ![Crying [:'(]](/emoticons/emotion-9.gif) ![Crying [:'(]](/emoticons/emotion-9.gif) At least it is interesting...

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
Well, I guess most of my hobbies are known here; I do dabble in cgi art using Poser, Photoshop and also Vue (when it doesn't crash). I can also *really* paint and draw as well, but I am a bit slack with that these days.
I'm taking a long term view to learning Dutch, I took a course last year and am doing some self study this year. Plus the boyfriend makes me study every time I go over to Holland ![Surprise [:O]](/emoticons/emotion-3.gif)
I go to the movies at least a couple of times a month to either art-house or popular movies depending on who I go with. Sometimes I get to see films early like I did last week; there was a trial showing of the new Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Sunshine etc) movie, Slumdog Millionaire which I was lucky enough to attend.
I see bands live as much as I can, I saw the Foo's a couple of weeks ago at Wembley and I try to see some theatre too; I like the Shakespearian comedies mostly. I'm a gaming fan too; obviously WoW which I have varied degrees of enthusiasm for and I am always willing to try new games. I adore my Sims and have fun making custom textures for their clothes. I've recently got a Wii and am loving it.
I love wine also, but more whites than reds; I like a nice chardonnay or a Sav Blanc... sometimes I will try a mellow Merlot if I'm feeling brave. I discovered I quite like Shiraz Cabernet also when I bought some for my boyfriend's dad at Christmas and erm... 'tested' it first. It's ok - I bought him another!
Near miss hobby; I have 2 pedigree cats that I did consider breeding from at first, but then decided firmly against it. Then I thought about 'showing' them as they are nice examples of their breeds, but I went to a cat show... Honestly, I felt so bad for the cats there, it's just totally the wrong environment for a cat - squished into a cage and oogled by everyone. I couldn't imagine putting my cats through that (and I think the Siamese would get thrown out for bad language,) so refraining saved me from a headache, a judge from some painful scratches and the household from a possible lawsuit. Win/win!

That wouldn't have been an Australian one, by any chance? I found I quite like the Aussie blends and I am the opposite of you...I like deep oaky reds and not the light fruity whites!

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
My number one hobby is crafting (I cannot keep my hands still, it is impossible), number two is reading. Alot of the time it is the other way around though. In addition I make attempts at photography; but less so nowadays than when I worked with cameras. Nowadays I usually point and click and don't work with settings so much. I play board games (for instance History of the World, Zombies!!!, Carcassonne to give a good sampling) when I can make people play with me. Apart from that I have the summer time hobby of growing things - this year (new flat and all) I am attempting to grow roses on my balcony (in addition to ivy, chrysanthemum, and a white solanum).

There are of course also the fact that my window sills are all filled with plants; and my dresser has a collection of orchids on it. Hmm. Then there are all the hobbies I would like to have but don't have the time or opportunity for.... Sailing (and I love the ocean! - but I will happily go canoeing on rivers), climbing (trees or rocks), carpentry, flying, etc. There's probably more, but the main issue is; I have too many hobbies and not enough time. Especially not nowadays

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
Let's see...reading, I am always reading; drawing, when I'm in the mood; watching movies, which is almost as fun as reading; playing card and board games; listening to music.
Also, this may sound totally geeky, but I love linguistics. I have a profound fascination with languages. I've always loved codes and foreign alphabets ever since I was a kid. When I first read the Lord of the Rings, I was intrigued by Tolkien's elvish scripts in the back appendices. I started studying that on my own, and that hobby that I was often criticized for my family went a long way to helping me understand linguistics in real languages. I used that self-learned knowledge when I was taking Spanish and German classes in college.
I also like to go bike riding and I won't say no to a boat ride when I have the chance. I like to play video games, and I dabble in writing and crafts (when I'm in the mood).
I have so many hobbies I can't even think of them all...I would do them all at once if I could, but they have to take turns for my attention and affection. If I didn't have at least five different things to choose from, I'd probably be bored out of my mind.

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
I love making things with my hands, though I haven't done much of that over the past few years. Some of those things include cross-stitching (I liked making baby announcements and blankets for my friends, family and my own), and pottery. One of these days, if the real estate market gets good again, I'd love to build a music/crafting/meditation room addition to the back of my house, so that I could have a place where my kids could practice their music and I play the piano or do other artsy things. I realize that this has only a very outside chance of becoming reality - but I can still dream! lol
I love music and reading, cooking, horseback riding, ice-skating (kind of an expensive hobby where I live right now, so I don't do it too often!) riding rollercoasters, camping (though it has been a long time for that too), mystical studies and the computer games which I can't seem to get enough of! lol Hopefully one day an idea will come to me with something to write about - but in the meantime, I try to keep my mind active with some humor intact...especially in light of the current political fiascoes.![Whisper [:-*]](/emoticons/emotion-17.gif)

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
I like making stuff too, though my schedule during most of the year is a bit too busy to let me do much of that. Mostly I just draw and paint and make thank-you cards, which is really fun.
I like to read, listen to music, rollerblade (though I don't own rollerblades)--I can't bike, watch movies and TV shows, and think a lot. I'm currently writing a series of poems about the complicated relationship of an assassin (not Achmed), and a short-ish story about a woman hiding from her village who drove her out on account of seeing visions.

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
At the moment I'm doing a lot of artwork (sketching) of the SOA series. I'm doing cover art for each book, basing the titles color on the hardcover versions. My artwork is a bit cartoonist, not too realistic as I want it to be. I'm more of a writer than an artist, and trying to brush-up on my neglected drawing skills. When I was younger I use to draw more than I wrote, than as I got older, started reading more, and than I started writing more than I drew. Its been a while, so my artwork isn't as good as it should be if I only put in a bit more of practice.
So far I did Rhapsody, Destiny and The Assassin King cover art. I'm awaiting my hardcover Destiny to arrive in the mail so I can color in the letters based on the volume behind the sandy jacket. ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)
Rhapsody cover art I did based on the scene with Achmed and Grunthor on the hill, overlooking Easton and being hunted by the pack of posed wolves, The Assassin King I based more on the cover of TAK cover art by Luis Royo, but with my own little twist, adding in Ashe, Anborn, and Rath. Destiny I did the scene with Achmed sighting his cwellen at Anwyn holding Rhapsody, flying in the sky with Anborn and his horse charging after them so Anborn can catch her when she falls.
BTW, if anybody has any suggestions on what scene I should do for the cover arts I'm doing for each book (Prophecy, Requiem for the Sun, Elegy for a Lost Star) than send me the page number and ill look it up. ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
My mom always said I was great at writing, but you know moms? They are totally biased. So you can't judge my abilities on her opinion. ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) I do enjoy it, but I don't keep up on it enough. I like to do it when I want to do it, but I have too many bad associations with writing papers in school (oh! I hated it!). But that is a completely different from creative writing. I never minded writing a short story or play in English class, but we didn't do it that often. Mostly dumb stuff, like read a biography (*snore*) and write a report on it. I hate reading biographies. Or interview a classmate and write about their life. I had major people-skill problems (and still do), so those types of assignments mysteriously were never turned in, much to the chagrin of my dad. This was a two-fold problem, because I do not like deadlines. If I ever become a writer, that would be a struggle.

OooooOOooooo, cover art! :) Can you scan it and give a link? (Oh, and for Requiem for the Sun, you should do that part when Rhapsody jumps over the cliff to escape Michael.)

Eh eternal light! You wouldn't be connected with DeviantArt, would you? I have my own little corner there, so if you want I can send you a PM for the link.
Ill try to do that (scan them), although I need to work on drawing people (I'm really bad with shading and detail), and like I said, don't expect "Godly iluvachmed art." Although I don't think my art is bad. ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif) But yeah! Whenever I get a scanner (if I can find one, I don't have one and I don't know when I will have the money to buy one, plus my computer isn't doing so good, its dying on me, me thinks), ill get them posted on my DeviantArt account. I already have some Achmed art up, though its not the best in the world, you can check it out. ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
My favorite hobby is cooking. I wanted
to be a chef for a long time, but my parents didn't like the idea of
me going to culinary school. And they are paying for the majority of
my school. If I get a summer where I am home, I am currently spending
the summer working near school, I am going to take culinary classes
though the community college.
I recently found some catering programs
and briefly thought about dropping out of my Chemistry program to go
to that, then I came to my senses. If I am this close to a 4-year
degree, I should finish. I would LOVE to own my own catering business
one day. If I ever have the time or money, I will.
As I mentioned, I am a Chemistry major
and at the end of the school year I was elected president of the
Chemistry club. It is a fairly new club and is still getting
established. I hope to do a lot with it next year and I have already
started planning activities. I am sure it is going to take up a good
deal of my time.
I use to work at a movie theater, and
still know a lot of people who do, so I go to the movies for free
whenever I am home. I usually fit 2 movies in over a 3 day weekend.
My boyfriend considers himself to be a
music elitist, and it has been rubbing off on me. He is in to a lot
of the independent bands, or band that use to be independent. Since
we started dating, I am sure my music library has increased four
times over.
I have recently done a bit of Jewelry
making. I'm not very artsy or creative, so its hard for me to come up
with something that looks right, but I enjoy it.
Thats a lot more hobbies then I
thought. No wonder I don't have much free time.

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
Heck! I would go to the movies all the time if I could get in for free. I don't go that much because movie tickets are expensive.
What kind of jewelry do you make? I took a small beading class a few years back, and now I make bracelets and necklaces. But nothing fancy. I don't do it that often. You have to sell your kidney to buy beads.

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
Yeah, beads are quite expensive. I try only to buy them when
I can get good deals. Sometimes Michel’s will have a combination of coupons
between 40%-60% off for one weekend and I will go a bit crazy. I enjoy
making earrings, and I often make necklace and bracelet sets to go with them.
Nothing to complicated, I haven’t been doing it very long. I kind of want to
find a place to see if any of it would sell, but I haven’t done enough that I
think would be worth selling.
And I have had free movies for about 4 years now. I don’t know what I am going
to when I have to start paying again.

I used to love making necklaces and doing little crafts. But I used to do it more often when I was younger. I loved weaving little pouches out of yarn, and making bracelets, the like. ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)

Re: Cauldron Member Hobbies!
Hobbies, you say? I always consider myself a bit of a hermit because I can go a week with just the company of my laptop. I love my friends, but they always seem to be living in some other universe where I only frequent whimsicaly. So because of that, I don't think I have that many hobbies.
I write, that's about the one constant in my life. There seems to be a world of characters just walking around in my head, ready to be let out! But I never seem to have enough plots for them. For the past while, I've been writing a lot of poetry... experimental stuff, not really pertaining to any particular style. I love it, it's my form of art considering I can't draw/paint/sculpt to save my life. X.x
I also enjoy researching random subjects that interest me. I get quite frenzied and obsessive about it actually! Astrology is something I adore, looking up people's sun, moon and rising signs. Norse and Greek mythology are also completely intruiging to me, I've also researched Runes, numerology, pagan religions, celts, warhammer, bears, nursery rhymes, etcetera. Right now I'm strangely interested in wargaming (I went to the World Championships!), especially the DBA, small scale miniatures. Yay for toy soldiers!
I love going to concerts. I don't get to go to that many due to the fact that bands that I am interested in don't usually come to my part of the world. But I still say seeing Flogging Molly live was easily the best day of my life!
Eh, what else... could drinking coffee be counted as a hobbie?:D But, well, there you go.
Time is a clothes line we hang memories on.
