    Favorite Part in Destiny?

I like the part when Ashe comes back to Elysian and see's Achmed and then when Achmed is going to row away he says, "You came here to be near her... you love her too."  Then Achmed goes, no Ashe, "you love her too."  Like he was the 1st one when in fact Ashe actually beat him by a thousand years.

I also like the part when that little Lirin girl that Michael Wind of Death used to blackmail Rhaps into swearing her love & fidelity to him actually reunites with Rhapsody years later after that coronation banquet thingy.  She's like all crying and tells Rhapsody how thanks to her she has had a good life and wonderful children and grandchildren.  I thought Rhapsody would be more glad to know that her sacrifice was not made in vain, but I guess that she was under a lot of stress at the moment and needed some alone time...

But my fav part is when Rhapsody and Ashe are up in the rafters or something hiding under his mist cloak peeking down at the gift procession in the Tyrian great hall and laughing & giggling like a bunch of naughty teenagers doing something that they both know they shoudln't be doing---like for that moment they were just Sam & Emily again.  They were looking down at the display case which housed Rhapsody's favorite coronation gift that she got---a simple song scroll that had the single perfectly written musical line, "Sam & Emily, Always."  I always thought that was so sweet of Ashe..

    Re: Favorite Part in Destiny?

Did that part with Rhapsody and Ashe hiding in Tyrian happen??? I must've skipped through that part by accident then, because I haven't heard of it. That sounds so sweet!

I personally like when Rhapsody goes back to Elysian (I think it's Elysian, anyway) with Anborn, and he kisses her and Ashe goes all psycho and scares everyone at the council. I thought that was funny.

And then when Ashe goes to Rhapsody afterwards and she keeps telling him to leave and he won't. That was sad...

I'd have to say that my favorite part is either the final confrontation with the F'dor and afterwards, or the Council. With honorable mentions to Rhapsody's coronation and Ashe finally catching up with Khaddyr....talk about laying the proverbial smackdown.

I like the part when Rhapsody and Achmed kissed near the basilica before they faced the F'Dor.

The instructor put's out a single chair in the middle of an empty room, and he says; "Explain to me how this chair is not here."
One student says: "Chair, what chair? I don't see a chair."

    Re: Favorite Part in Destiny?

Alright, favorite quotes and part(s) from Destiny

I like this one:  Rhapsody is talking to Oelendra about getting over Ashe and what her mother would think.
"Thank Fate she died without knowing me for the whore that I am."  Destiny, 567
And then Oelendra slaps the $&*@ out of her...which is amusing.

    And my favorite part:

"The time for words is past.  We can't keep the *** waiting."
"All right, then I won't talk."  Her hand met his, and rested there; he looked at it, and then down at her, where their eyes met as well.  Finally their lips met, softly; it was a first, too, as in the previous moment, a first that Rhapsody prayed did not also portend a last.
Her mouth clung to his a moment more, sharing a final breath; then she moved away.
    Destiny, 598

And then again before they part:
She smiled at him again, then reached up and took his face in her hands.  Gently she kissed him as she had in the street next to the basilica that night, allowing the warmth of her lips to linger on his for a moment.  Then she stepped back and let her eyes wander over his face.
"I was afraid I would never get the chance to do that again," she said softly.
        "So was I," he said.
    Destiny, 629
*sigh*  Make me swoon, why don't you, EH!  But two things slightly disturb me about her kissing Achmed:  one, technically she was already married to Ashe at this point, even if she doesn't have a memory of it, and two, she keeps referring to Achmed as a brother...they're not in Arkansas, you know.  (j/k j/k j/k joke, sorry to anyone from Arkansas)

Aw I know, and Rhapsody makes him promise to leave and he goes to leave. I remember reading the part in the book and yelling "noooooo tell her the truthhhhhhhhh, give her the pearllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!FIUOHSJLNkeilygfblozgbif! " (or something to that effect). Then she releases him from his promise and I was happy again.

    Re: Favorite Part in Destiny?

Destiny is my favorite book so it's hard to pick out particular sections.  But one part that just popped into my head where Achmed hurls the demonspawn Vincane into the kiln.  It may seem sadistic but it's hilarious to me very time I read it.  That whole first "action" sequence at tile foundry and then later on when they meet up with Oelendra are great.

Hooray, I got my Rhapsody books back!!!

from Destiny : Chapter 87 pg. 806 [American PB]

In the Great Hall of Tyrian atop Tomingorllo, amid the glad sound of silver trumpets, a solemn procession carried the chosen gift of suit to the display pedestal where the diadem had rested...

Out of all the rich gifts of state that were presented for the Lirin queen's approval... she had chosen a simple scroll, bound with a black velvet ribbon.  It was sealed with an odd, thirteen-sided copper signet, said to be one of only two in the entire world...

During the meaningful and joyous ceremony, the queen by custom, was absent; at least she was not noticed, lying on her stomach on the floor of the Grand Balcony, looking down and watching it all from underneath Gwydion's mist cloak with him.  It was a struggle for the both to refrain from giggling like maniacs as they had when, straight-faced, she had presented her betrothal choice to Rial and left his offices in a dead run before her composure collapsed.

The song was a gift for the eyes of the bride-to-be only.  Gwydion had threatened to have the scroll hold the tender lyrics to one of Grunthor's bawdy marching songs.  Instead when she opened it she found he had been putting the music instruction she had given him to good use; the carefully graphed staff carried the notes that spelled out Sam and Emily Always without a single error.

    *sigh*

You know what, that is so sweet but I don't remember reading that either. I wonder if it was left out of some copies of the book. I'm gonna check that straight away when I get home.

My favorite part was when Ashe has that little heart to heart with Oelendra. Also, the wedding scene at the end.

    Your Favorite Part!

Personally, I love the kiss part.  Not the second one, but the first time Rhaps and Achmed kissed.  How romantic!  As they set off to what could be their death, they look on each other for what could be the last time.  They gently take each others hands and in what seems like an instance, their lips meet in a soft kiss of friendship and love that temporarily releases them from all their worries and takes them to a world where it is just Rhapsody and Achmed, sharing a moment that could be their last.

MY GOODNESS!  Gives me chills just thinking about it. Surprise [:O]

The part where Anwyn sticks her legs in the fire place where the F'dor does wonderful fiery things to her.  That part made me think :"Dang, EH is a freak".  Hehehehe. Stick out tongue [:P]

There were several parts of Destiny that I THOUGHT were my favorite... until I read about the last 5 pages. The end, by far, is the best...

Speaking of such, I love the part when Rhapsody said "Anwyn, be silent".  Just like that.  I will always feel sorry for Anwyn, but that was funny
