Upcoming & Current Movies
Well, I just saw that one of my all time favorite book as a kid is being made into a movie, and I am psyched about it!
The Bridge to Terabithia

I loved that book! Is it going to be an animated movie or live action?
Personally, I'm really excited about Happy Feet. What's cuter than dancing penguins?

My newest sister-in-law sent that book to the girls last year, it was her favorite when she was younger. Maybe it will be out when she is here and she can take them to enjoy it with her! ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
Val, you really have to get yourself down here one of these days! lol

Live action, from what I could see. The place I saw first, but couldn't find again when I realized I should put it here, showed the actors in a scene.
We can't wait for the new Harry Potter either!

Harry Potter is out soon?! *Squeals in delight* Weee!
*Ahem* I've seen a trailer for Eragon, another book being turned into a movie. Anyone read it? I have to say, I didn't like the book. I got through the first chapter and then quit, but the movie looks very good.
And Happy Feet! Yay!!!

The Harry Potter trailer is coming out in November, attached to Happy Feet. The movie, unfortunately, doesn't come out until July (I think the 13th. Possibly the 12th).
As for Eragon...the book was rather bad, though I like it enough to finish it and read book two. I was willing to see the movie just for Jeremy Irons, but after seeing the trailer, I actually got kind of excited. The elf is all wrong, but the dragons look good, and I'm not so attached to the books that I care about the movie's faithfulness to them, so it should be an enjoyable movie.

Glad to hear someone else who didn't love the books! My boyfriend constantly talks about them and he's the one who forced me to read the first chapter, and now he's taking me to see the movie when it comes out.
But... *coughs surreptitiously* ...who is Jeremy Irons?

Well, he was 15 or 16 when he initially began writing it. He had just graduated from high school when he started. He was born in 1983. I remember 1983 very well. Guess that means I am getting old! lol
Here's more on the author, Christopher Paolini.
*Eragon the movie*
The movie pairs up John Malcovich (sp?) and Jeremy Irons again, too, although one appears to be a bad guy, the other good. The Man in the Iron Mask (another they were in together) is one of the few movies I actually own.

Thanks for the trailer link, it looks amazing!
There's another Disney movie in the making called WaterHorse about the Loch Ness Monster, which is supposed to come out I think Christmas 07, but I haven't heard much about it. It did succeed, alas, in pushing back the next Chronicles of Narnia movie, Prince Caspian, to summer 08, so I really want to find out if it's going to be any good.

Mom watched the kids for a hubby date night out, and we went to see Rocky Balboa. I have to say that both of us were pleasantly surprised - yikes, I remember when my parents went on their own date to see the original Rocky in the single screen theatre, three blocks away from my childhood home! lol

I also agree Rhapsody. My friend keeps on pestering me about how great
Eragon/Eldest is, and I'm about to puke! Lol, the first book was okay,
but the second book I wanted to throw arcross the room, or throw it
into the nearest thrashcan. I guess I will have to respect other
peoples opinions, but if they only read SOAs, then they might get a
wider grasp on GREAT fantasy...

Honestly, I haven't read the Eragon books, but only because they were terribly large and I didn't feel like delving into such huge books at the time. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, however. Also, as far as having it easy, that maybe so but considering the kid had the intelligence and the determination, at such an age when most kids can't think past next week, to stick it out and actually finish not one but two (and obviously three from what Mazzine said) enormous novels, I would gladly give him a round of applause. The fact that his writing seems immature is only logical: he is young, so his writing will be young as well. In time, he may be one of the great ones. If you read any work from authors from the time they begin their careers until they are renowned (Stephen King comes to my mind immediately), you will undoubtedly note a maturing of their writing styles.
And before everyone under the age of 25 starts yelling at me, I realize there are lots of what I might refer to as "kids" out there that are more mature than their years and with great talent. But I am sure that those are more the exception to the rule. For what it's worth, I think it's a good thing that they are the exception rather than the rule. A person ought to be able to grow in the pace they are meant to without being rushed along. I have known many, many talented and determined young men and women. I was mature for my age myself, due to some circumstances of my life, but no way would I have been able to finish writing one novel, much less a trilogy.
Now, back to movies!!
